Western countries and NGOs must attempt to reduce the practice of female genital cutting. They can do this by challenging the discriminatory reasons due to which the female genital cutting is practised. The older generations need to step up and they must be counselled in order to change traditions. The girls should be educated and made aware that they have the right to decide on what happens to their body. The issue of female genital cutting and its risks must be openly spoken about and discussed. People must be made aware that religion does not demand this practice. The movement must go on to ban this practice.
